Louise Brown is a self-taught artist known for her expressive paintings and sculptural work based in rural Lincolnshire. She now focuses on hand-built ceramic animal sculptures, often inspired by wildlife seen in everyday surroundings. Her pieces are full of character, with a strong emphasis on personality, texture and a touch of quirkiness. Working mainly in stoneware and porcelain clays, she avoids over-smoothing the surface, allowing natural texture to remain and embracing the occasional small crack, as these imperfections enhance the handmade quality of each sculpture.
