Description
Handmade horn beaker cups are crafted from real ox horn using the traditional methods first employed in the medieval period. The process begins by slicing through a horn, then heating the resulting tube to straighten the sides and shape the mouth using a metal former. A horn base is then cut from a flat horn plate and attached to create a watertight cup. Each beaker is lightly sanded and polished, leaving a rustic, uneven surface that suits its traditional character. Each horn cup is unique, with colours ranging from warm amber to deep brown, so no two are exactly alike.
Perfect for feasting and toasting, wassailing fruit trees to ensure a good harvest, or sharing mead with fellow re-enactors, these horn cups are sure to create a buzz. For non-drinkers, they also make a quirky pen cup or desk tidy. A unique, well made item to use and enjoy for years.
